About
Hi, I’m Laura McGrath. My design career began at Ralph Lauren on Madison Ave where I worked as a men’s designer. After a number of years designing striped oxford shirts and tartan ties I longed for something new and exciting. I packed my bags and drove west in pursuit of sunshine, palm trees and a career in Hollywood!
A stint at the legendary Western Costume propelled me into IATSE Motion Picture Costumers local 705. I worked my way up to Key Costumer on commercials, television shows and films. Countless days and endless nights spent in stores, costume houses, sets and studio stages in Los Angeles would culminate in a 2008 Emmy for Pushing Daisies.
Forever a New Yorker at heart, I moved back to Gotham in 2015 joining United Scenic Artists IATSE Local 829. Shopping the city streets from uptown to downtown, and out into the boroughs, New York’s endless variety provided the perfect palette with which to refine my craft. I continued to hone my skills on series such as The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Rehearsal, Ray Donovan, and James Schamus’ Indignation.
Skilled in budget creation, script breakdown, continuity and production, I also excel in research and character development in both contemporary and period clothing. If you are in need of a designer, assistant designer, key or supervisor(Recently, I joined IATSE local 764 so I can supervise on either coast) in New York or Los Angeles (or even on location!) let’s connect. Let me bring your stories to life through costume.
